The historic Lemp Mansion Restaurant and Inn was built in the 1860s by William J. Lemp, of Lemp Beer brewery fame. A continuous string of family suicides led to the decline of the family fortune and has fueled claims that ghosts of deceased family members roam the mansion halls. To experience the ghosts up close and personal, book one of the haunted mansion tours offered on Mondays or attend the annual Halloween bash.
For a more intimate investigation, you can stay overnight in one of the elegantly appointed bedrooms. With an overnight guest with free-access to the mansion, you can explore almost every inch of the house, with the exceptions of the kitchen, bar, office and tunnel. That's right, there's an underground tunnel, now sealed, that connects the house to the brewery and used to contain the family's swimming pool and ballroom.
If you're hungry for more ghastly fun you can sign up for one of the Lemp's Murder Mystery Dinners. Should you prefer a less theatrical meal, the restaurant is known for it's abundant fried chicken dinners on Sunday, as well as it's usual classically upscale American and Italian fare. Lush gardens and a charming gazebo are ideal for intimate weddings, and the Lemp Grand Hall is available for catering and hosting your event or reception.
