The Old Rock House (located on South 7th Street) was practically at maximum capacity last night. Not to unusual for the two groups playing on Friday night: Public Property and Messy Jiverson. The entire upper balcony was occupied, along with almost every square inch of the lower level. The crowd was expected to be large; to make room for a huge crowd, the majority of the dining tables and chairs were removed to allow more space. As always, once the bands started jamming, spilled alcohol slowly began to cover the dance floor and a mixture of incense scents lingered in the air.

Public Property, consisting of 5 guys and 2 gals, definitely kept the crowd entertained; they switched it up, rocked out and jammed on. The crowd swayed to the reggae/roots style music. This group, originating from Iowa City, Iowa definitely knew how to bring it for those of us in St. Louis. I must admit, I am not sure they are typically something I would have chosen to listen to if I was just browsing a record store, but I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to hear them in person as they have now become a definite preference of mine.

Messy Jiverson, an all male group originating right here in Saint Louis, kept the entire crowd dancing while they owned the stage. Their psychedelic rock sound emphasized a mood of pure ‘tripiness.' Behind them, visual effects were displayed on a projector screen which just added to the 'peace, love and happiness 'environment. Midway through their performance, Messy Jiverson threw out copies of their most recent CD and t-shirts. Fans always love it when bands throw out free merchandise. The ‘cherry on top' of their already sweet performance was the dance Beatle Bob did with Messy jaming out to their final song. Beatle Bob knows how to bring it and sure did make the crowd ecstatic! I was almost jealous of his dance moves!

Both groups are very down to earth and very nice people. Both have awesome sound and both can be found on myspace if you are looking to find their next tour dates at the Old Rock House!

Over all, the Old Rock House is a great place to go for drinks, good music and to just relax. The upper balcony can be reserved for larger parties (100+) and has a private bar and restrooms. If you have a smaller group (around 40 or so) you can book the lower level. The cooler aspects of the lower level (below the main floor) are the old wine barrels, musician/band portraits and the two side rooms that can fit about 5-7 people. It's a great place to go to see your favorite indie bands or just to hang out with friends on a Friday night.

This show was out of control! I've never seen that many people at The Old Rock House moving like that... Messy brings the heat.

We dont come down from Canada for too many shows, but when Bubbles said Messy Jiverson was performing Live we had to be there. Ricky got busted for sellin weed on the Patio but we brought him an extra shirt and got him right back inside. Bubbles wont stop talking about the dirty burger song so we are gonna get him a New Messy Jiverson Cd for christmas. We missed the Regaae Band but heard they were real good and Ricky smoked weed with the two girls, dont tell Lucy......
