Billing itself as an upscale casual beer brewery and restaurant, Trailhead succeeds in ambiance, but fails in the food department. Housed in the historic section of Old St. Charles' main street shopping district, the multi-level brick building near the riverfront looks like a promising place to grab a casual dinner and local beer. The dress-code absolutely forbids sleeveless tops for its patrons, yet apparently doesn't hold the same standards of class for their eye-rolling, gum-smacking, clueless hostesses. Upon being seated, you can expect excitement as you peruse a menu full of fresh beer and contemporary American entrees. Unfortunately, the beer is weak and flavorless, complimenting the bland and uninspired food perfectly. Everyone in our party was dissatisfied, which is a shame, considering this restaurant's potential.

The Good Beautiful building by the river
The Bad Horrible food
